Our Background

Brian and Donita Sturgis met in the summer of 1991 while volunteering at a remote mission hospital in Togo, West Africa.  They married shortly thereafter and continued to hone their respective skills in business administration (Brian) and primary health care delivery (Donita).  In 2002, God laid on their hearts the vision and desire to begin Hope Within Ministries.  Since then, numerous people have got involved -- as Board Members, Core Staff members, volunteers, church liaisons, donors and through many other avenues of assistance -- to help make Hope Within a reality.

Our Mission

The mission of Hope Within is to demonstrate the love and proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  Through the operation of Hope Within Community Health Center, our first major endeavor, we deliver free primary healthcare services to the medically uninsured of Lancaster and Dauphin Counties in Pennsylvania.  And, with patients who give permission, we also take some time to discuss spiritual matters and to share from the Bible about God’s love for all people.  We work closely with medical specialists and health care organizations outside of Hope Within for medical follow-up care when needed and with local, Bible‑believing churches for follow‑up counsel and discipleship for patients who are interested.

Our Organization

Hope Within Ministries, incorporated in 2002, is a Christian, faith-based, non-profit organization.  It is tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and is registered as a charitable organization in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.  Hope Within is financially audited by Hershey Advisors of Brownstown, PA.  All gifts to Hope Within are federally tax-deductible.
